Now in Malta
We enjoyed Rome very much and left on MSC cruise ship of the Mediterranean. We have been to Genoa, Santa Margarita, Potifino, Marseilles France, Barcelona Spain and today Malta! As we dock I absolutely think this little Island is such a gem. I love the colors, a goldy limestone, with brightly colored doors or shutters. This little Island has quite and extensive (7,000 years) history of take overs and cultural changes, in 60 AD the Apostle Paul was shipwrecked of Malta, and on top of it all earthquake and tsunami!!! There are beautiful flowers and the tiniest alleys where one will find a door to a home. The church we went to was magnificent and the bells chiming were beautiful. Callie may not have the fondest memories of Malta, since she fell at the Malta Experience in Valletta. She fell on the stairs and not only got a gash in her arm, she broke the Canon 7D, she tried to protect it, but the camera is heavy and the lens took the hit! Could be worse...it has insurance and I'm glad she is ok. We then went to Monument to Ball, the forts, the views of the Grand Harbour and we were off to Mdina and Rabat. I loved the baroque architecture of Madina and spent some time in the Cathedral there, the bells of the cathedral were amazing. In this area...Callie found a night in once shining armour. She did actually enjoy it here and the small alley's, fancy windows, and a break with gelato!
