Gainesville Getaway....

We made it up to Gainesville. We took our time and ended up going up 441 this time, more scenic with farms and hills. I was able to test the new camera :D and it works like a dream. The memory card that was sent doesn't fit the camera so used one from the other camera. This camera is heavier and has more options, fun! Anyway, we ended up in the older section of Gainesville where there are many older Victorian homes located in the "Bed and Breakfast District"! Laural Oak was very pretty, a charming yellow Victorian which was surrounded by a fence. There was a wrap-around-porch and had several water fountains. The windows are large with old leaded glass. The inside was updated, it had been used for apartments for sometime before bringing it back to it's old grandeur Morta (the owner) explained. After a tour we settled into our room the Lily! It has older furniture that would have been like that of a home of yesteryear and a gas fireplace. It did have a spa tub, interestingly located right in the room! Be freshen up and were to meet Caitlin downstairs but her car broke down...so we went to get her and Adam. After following the car being towed to BMW and dropping off the key, we headed downtown to eat at Emjelio's....I was expecting and Italian restaurant, but it was more Cuban/South American cuisine. It was very good, and we went next door for Gelato for dessert. We took them back to look at our room before taking them back to their apartments.

The next day...

Valentine's Day

February 14th...St. Valentine's Day. Where hearts and cupids are all around. Though it is a big seller day for cards and flowers, our day was less romantic! Our water heater broke! So amid the leaking water and no hot water, we went to Lowe's to purchase a new one which should be installed shortly! We did manage to go out for breakfast at First Watch. I got the trifecta with the carrot cake pancake...yummm! Texted freinds and family, and caught up on Facebook. I'm still on call as work has been slow.

Happy Valentine's Day 2011!

Big Purchase.....

I have had bad electronic luck lately. The vacuum broke, the camera has to have a new shutter component put in, etc. It happens like this sometimes....basically, it occurs when I get a little money in the bank! Money in....Money out! I was just going to sent the camera in to the company to be fixed, I still am, but it will take several weeks to get back. Then of course, yesterday, Leslie asked if I'd do some pictures for her...well, what's a girl to do??? Buy, spend, purchase!!!! I vacillated for several days, and finally, hit the order button. I think I got a good deal...we shall see.

Valentine's day is just around the corner! Last weekend, well okay the weekend before, we met up with Caitlin to celebrate her birthday (and Adam's) at the Cheesecake Factory. Adam was so surprised to get the Nook Color...I hear he hasn't put it down! Caitlin got bathing suites, gift cards, blanket, and a Coach purse! She unfortunately ended up with kidney stones which she passed the following day! :(

Natalie was stuck on a ice covered hill trying to get to work today. She called for a tow truck and he was sliding on the hill so he got in her car and it slide sideways down the hill. I think her heart stopped a bit. She was there on the hill for an hour, people trying to walk and sliding all over. The joys of winter!! So she ended up going home for the day.

We're suppose to mark our calendars....Friday, April 13, 2036 and asteroid is suppose to be dangerously close to hitting the Earth! We shall see,it's only 25 years away...

I see a cruise in my future!!!

Of course a cruise is in my future, BUT there is also another one!!! Manuel and I toured the EPIC on Saturday! AWESOME!!! He never takes more than a few days off from work, so when I was offered the opportunity to tour the ship and have lunch...wellllll I had to invite him along! So off we went on the bus with others and had a really nice time. There are really fantastic shows offered, such as Blue Man Crew, Cirque du Soleil, and Legends...the Las Vegas cruise. The rooms were really neat also, different, but nice. I really like the spa suite. He was interested!! He notice the casino! So, Monday there was a special, so I booked the cruise complete with a down payment and called to tell him he was going! LOL Yep!! I did. I also contacted Liz and told her and with in an hour she and Evan were booked by that night her in-laws were booked! We're still working on Candy and Larry!!! We'll be going to the Eastern Carribean, which we haven't been. So, a cruise is in my future for sure!!! :D

Motivation....

Even though it is the New Year, I don't seem to be any more motivated. Perhaps, technology has slowed this down. I have updated my blog, and I have material out on the counter waiting to be cut. As I look at the material, I think I need to add another fabric in white. I think the original fabric I was going to use is to busy. As I sit and type, there is tragety with shootings in Arizona, what is it with people. Can they not verbilize and do positive things to make changes? May God watch over all of us.

Technology!

NOOK! This is the latest in technology. It is an E-Book (electronic book). Rather than reading a book in which you turn pages; this sleek gadget actually stores a library of books to read all with the touch of our finger. I opted for the color Nook because I can download magazines, newspapers, etc. There are children's books that can be downloaded and have some interactivity with them. There is internet accesss, and there are games. I wanted and iPad, and I think I still want to get one. I'm used to the iPhone so in navigating the Nook I get a bit, ummmm, irritated!!! I do like the fact that I can read in the dark and not need a light. I have the my Nook app on my iPhone and can read my book there also, it really is pretty cool!!!!

Happy New Year 2011!

We rang in the new year very quietly and unexciting!!! But the new year came any way!! What is hard to believe is that it has been eleven year since Y2K! That is when people panicked thinking things would crash and burn (technology wise) because of the new decade! How silly!! Last year went by extremely fast and I am sure this one will also. I really haven't set any goals because when I did last year...they fell apart in the first few week because of I was picked for jury duty....interesting as that was, my year in productivity for fun stuff, suffered. So this year, I will muddle through and plan some trips.....and I'll start by sitting here and enjoying the parade on t.v.
